About this scholarship
Bodossaki Foundation scholarship for master's studies
If you are studying for a Master’s degree at a university abroad, you will receive 1,100 EUR per month, paid for the minimum duration of your studies. If, instead, you are studying at a Greek or Cypriot university, you will receive 800 EUR per month if your university is more than 60 km from your place of residence, or 600 EUR if it is closer. The funding covers living costs and tuition fees; there is no additional payment towards tuition fees. It is provided by the Bodossaki Foundation, a Greek foundation that has been supporting students since 1972. You will also become part of the scholarship community, with networking events, academic webinars and mentoring (support from experienced former scholarship holders).
Who can apply
- Degree level: You wish to undertake a Master’s degree programme – either you are just about to start one or you are already in your first year. PhD programmes are not eligible for funding.
- Study stage: You already have a bachelor’s degree or are in your final year of study.
- Nationality: You are Greek, whether by nationality or by descent.
- Age: You will complete your degree before becoming a 35.
- Field of study: Your Master’s degree is in the fields of life sciences (such as biology, biomedical engineering or regenerative medicine), applied sciences and technology (such as computer science, AI, data science, robotics, materials science, environmental science or energy science) or in the management of businesses and non-profit organisations.
- Grades: Your average mark in your Bachelor’s degree must be at least 8.00/10 or be equivalent to an international qualification, such as a British ‘First Class Honours’ or a German 1.5. Students in their final year of study must submit a transcript showing this grade point average when applying.
- Financial need: Your financial circumstances and those of your parents are just as important as your grades. There is no set income limit; each case is assessed on its own merits.
- Language: You can demonstrate that you are proficient in the language in which your Master’s programme is taught.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation’s platform by 24 February, 14:00 Greek time. A certificate of enrolment from the university is not yet required; you may submit this at a later date. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview; the results will be communicated by email.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must be a Greek national, fall under the 35 category, be enrolled on one of the listed science or business degree programmes, and have a high average mark – which is why the pool of eligible applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. Academic performance and financial need are weighted equally, so you will need clear, well-documented evidence for both. If you meet the specific subject requirements and can demonstrate a genuine financial need, your chances are good.
