What you get

You get about 14,000 EUR (£12,000) for one year. This covers your tuition fees plus a contribution towards living costs. The award is for a one-year MPhil (a research-focused master's degree) at the University of Cambridge, which funds it.

• Degree: You are applying for a one-year MPhil at the University of Cambridge.
• Your plan: You intend to go on to a PhD at Cambridge after the MPhil.

• Nationality: You are a UK ('Home') student who normally lives in the UK.

How to apply

You apply through the University's Applicant Portal as part of your course application. Tick the box 'I wish to apply for funding'. Submit your admission application by the funding deadline, which the University sets each year.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. You must be a UK resident, aim for a specific one-year MPhil at Cambridge, and plan to continue to a Cambridge PhD. That makes the eligible group smaller than for open scholarships. If you clearly fit those conditions and can show strong grades and research potential, your prospects are reasonable. Cambridge stays highly competitive, so apply by the deadline and make your research plan convincing.
