Rest of UK (RUK) Bursary at the University of Dundee

You will receive about 2,300 EUR (£2,000) per year of study, which is paid in two instalments per academic year, usually by the end of November and by the end of February. The amount is paid for each full year of your studies, so for a four-year degree programme, the total could amount to approximately 9,200 EUR (£8,000). The University of Dundee funds this grant to support students from countries outside Scotland who come from lower-income households. If you spend a full academic year abroad or on a work placement, you will not receive the grant for that year.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolling on a full-time Bachelor’s degree programme at the University of Dundee, which begins in September 2026.
• Fee status: You are from England, Wales, Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland. This is confirmed in your offer letter as the fee group ‘Rest of the United Kingdom’.
• Residence: You live in the UK.
• Household income: Your combined annual household income is below £25,000 (approximately 29,000 EUR). The Student Loans Company must confirm this, so you must fund your studies through a student loan rather than from your own funds.
• Field of study: Most degree programmes are open to applicants. Exceptions include the fields of nursing and health sciences, medicine, dentistry, as well as education and social work.
• Course type: You are enrolled on a full-time degree programme involving face-to-face teaching. Part-time and distance-learning programmes are not eligible for funding. If you start in January, you will not receive the scholarship until your second year of study.

How to apply

There is no separate application form. Once you have enrolled, the university will automatically check your eligibility using your admission details, and the Student Finance Team will receive your income statement directly from the Student Loans Company. Please ensure that you have signed your income declaration with the Student Loans Company. The application deadline is 28 August 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a means-tested grant. If you meet the specified criteria (‘Rest of UK’ fee status at the University of Dundee and a household income confirmed by the Student Loans Company of less than £25,000), you will receive the grant. Your application will not be compared with those of other applicants. The main reason for exclusion is if you are self-funding your studies, as in this case your income cannot be verified. You should therefore ensure that your income declaration with the Student Loans Company is signed.
