What the EDCAP Graduate Scholarship gives you

You get a non-cash support package for 12 months to help you compete at international level after finishing your degree at the University of Birmingham. The package is built around your own performance goals. It can include one-to-one support in strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, physiology, sports psychology and performance lifestyle coaching. You also get unlimited physiotherapy and soft-tissue therapy (within a fair-use limit), plus extra funding on approval for scans, diagnosis and treatment. A full athlete review with the Performance Centre team is included. On top of this you receive a 12-month Peak membership. This gives full access to the 200-station gym, the 50m pool, steam room and sauna, group classes and free parking.

Who can apply

• Alumni only: You have already graduated from the University of Birmingham.
• Where you live: You are based mainly in Birmingham or the surrounding area.
• Sporting level: You currently compete at international standard.
• Goal: You are working towards a major event, such as European or World Championships, or the Olympic or Paralympic Games.
• Sport: Any sport, as long as you compete internationally.
• Nationality, age and gender: No restrictions.

How to apply

You apply through the online form on the programme page. There you set out your ranking, your three biggest achievements, your results over the last 12 months and your goals for the next 12 months. The deadline for the 2026/27 award is Friday 4 September 2026 at 23:59.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut very narrowly. You must be a Birmingham graduate, based locally, and already competing at international standard, so the eligible group is small. Past recipients include Olympians and Paralympic medallists, which shows the bar is high. If you clearly meet these conditions and can document a genuine international record, your prospects are good.
