About this scholarship

Benefit

You get 5,000 EUR for each of two years in a row of your Bachelor's studies, so 10,000 EUR in total. The money helps cover tuition, mandatory fees, books, supplies and the equipment you need for your degree. The scholarship is funded by Google (through Google.org) and run by the Institute of International Education (IIE).

Eligibility

  • Level: You study for a Bachelor's degree. Master's and other graduate students cannot apply.
  • Year of study: You are in your first or second year and will study for at least two more academic years.
  • University: You study at a university in Ireland. What counts is where your university is, not where you live or your citizenship.
  • Field of study: You study computer science, computer engineering or a closely related technical subject.
  • Grades: You have a strong academic record.
  • Leadership: You can show that you take on leadership roles and support diversity and inclusion in tech.
  • Who is encouraged: The programme supports women in computer science, so students who identify as women are strongly encouraged to apply. Children of Google employees cannot apply.

How to apply

You apply online through the Google Careers scholarships page. You submit a CV, your academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation (not from family members) and short essay answers. You hear back by email by mid-October.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: you must be a woman in the first or second year of a computer science degree at an Irish university, so the eligible group is small. Applications also close once a set number arrive (the Irish round capped at 80), so apply early. If you clearly fit the field and year and can show real leadership, your prospects are good.
