Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

You will receive a one-off payment of 7,000 EUR for one academic year, paid by bank transfer, to cover tuition fees, books, materials and equipment. The scholarship is provided by Google in partnership with EmployAbility, a charity that supports neurodivergent and disabled students. Around 10 applicants are selected each year.

Who can apply

• Disability: You are neurodivergent or disabled, or you are living with a mental health condition or a chronic illness. This may be visible or invisible, and may be physical, psychological, intellectual or sensory in nature.
• Level: You are currently enrolled as a Bachelor’s student.
• Where you study: Your higher education institution is accredited and is based in Europe, the UK or Israel.
• Field of study: You are studying Computer Science, Engineering Informatics or a closely related technical subject.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply, provided they are studying at an eligible higher education institution. Individuals who are excluded under export control or sanctions regulations are not eligible to participate.
• Grades: You have achieved excellent results at school.
• Motivation: You can demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for computer science and technology, as well as leadership qualities.

How to apply

Applications are made via an online form provided by EmployAbility. You will need to submit a CV, your academic transcripts, at least one letter of recommendation, and answers to questions regarding your interest in and skills within the field of computer science. Selection is based on the overall quality of your written application. There is no mention of an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is aimed at a very specific target group. You must be a student with a disability or a neurodivergent student studying for a bachelor’s degree in a computer science-related subject at a European, British or Israeli university, which means the pool of eligible applicants remains small. However, as the Google name is widely recognised, those who meet the criteria still apply for just around 10 places. If you clearly meet the criteria and can demonstrate good grades backed up by genuine commitment to the technical field, your prospects are good.
