About this scholarship

The Kingston Bursary

You get a one-off 2,000 GBP (about 2,350 EUR) in your first year at Kingston University in London. It is paid in three instalments straight into your UK bank account. There are at least 500 of these bursaries each year, and you do not repay any of it. Kingston University awards it to first-year undergraduates from lower-income households.

Who can apply

  • University: You have firmly accepted an offer for an undergraduate course at Kingston University, starting in September 2026.
  • Study phase: You are starting Year 1 of your degree. You cannot apply if you are on a Foundation Year 0 or join a later year to finish a degree (a 'top-up' course).
  • Fee status: You count as a UK-based ('home') student and pay tuition of 9,790 GBP, not the international rate.
  • Household income: Your household income is 25,000 GBP (about 29,400 EUR) or less, as assessed by Student Finance England or Student Finance Wales.
  • Course: Any undergraduate course counts, except Nursing and Midwifery courses that qualify for the NHS Learning Support Fund.

How to apply

There is no separate application. You firmly accept your Kingston offer and list Kingston as your first choice when you apply for student finance. Then complete the household income assessment by 30 June 2026. The university finds eligible students automatically and contacts those who are awarded a bursary in October 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

With at least 500 bursaries and no separate application to write, the barrier is low if you fit the criteria: a low household income, a firm Kingston offer and a completed Student Finance assessment. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee an award because numbers are limited. So complete your income assessment early rather than close to the June deadline.
