Maupertuis Program - Researchers Short Mobility (RSM)

You get a grant of 1,200 to 2,400 EUR for a short research visit between France and Finland. The exact amount depends on how long you stay. The money covers your travel, accommodation and living costs. Visits last from a few days up to a few weeks. The point is to build or deepen a working link with a partner team: exploring joint projects, learning a new method, using their equipment, starting a joint publication, or finding a lab for a future postdoc. The programme is run jointly by the French Institute in Finland, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and the Finnish Society for Sciences and Letters.

Who can apply

• You are a researcher: Open to all career stages, from doctoral students to experienced researchers. Doctoral students and early-career researchers are especially encouraged.
• Where you are based: You work at a research institution in either France or Finland. The visit can go in either direction, France to Finland or Finland to France.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines, including natural sciences, humanities and social sciences.
• Nationality and age: No limits. What counts is your link to a French or Finnish research institution.

How to apply

Fill in the RSM application template and submit it through the online form linked on the call page. The deadline for the 2026 round is 22 September 2025. A joint committee from both countries reviews each application on the quality, expected impact and feasibility of the project. You hear the result by early 2026. There is no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly: you must already be at a French or Finnish research institution and propose a concrete visit to a partner in the other country, so the eligible group is small. If your project clearly shows a real French-Finnish collaboration and you apply on time, your prospects are good. Doctoral and early-career researchers are actively encouraged.
