About this scholarship

Mona Hatoum Foundation Bursaries

You get a bursary of about EUR 7,000 (£6,000) spread across your two-year MA Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins in London. The money is paid in instalments each term, and you decide whether it goes towards your tuition fees or your living costs. Three of these bursaries are awarded each year. They come from the Mona Hatoum Foundation, set up in 2015 by the artist Mona Hatoum, a former student of the college, to help postgraduate art students who are short of money.

Who can apply

  • Course: You are in the first year of the full-time MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, part of the University of the Arts London.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply. Both UK ("Home") and international students are welcome.
  • Financial need: You cannot easily cover the cost of your studies.
  • Grades: Your academic results are assessed alongside your financial need.

How to apply

You apply directly through the University of the Arts London. Applications for 2026/27 have closed. Applications for 2027/28 entry are due to open in autumn 2026. Selection is based on your financial need and your academic results.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrow: it goes only to first-year students on one specific MA at one London college, and just three are given each year. That keeps the field small, but the MA itself is competitive to get into. If you are starting the course, can clearly show financial hardship and have strong results, your prospects are reasonable.
