Radboud University faculty scholarship for the Research Master's in Philosophy

You receive 10,500 EUR for your first year of the two-year Research Master's in Philosophy at Radboud University in Nijmegen. With good results, the scholarship continues into the second year, for a total of up to 21,000 EUR. What the money covers depends on where you come from. If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), the 10,500 EUR covers your tuition fee (around 2,700 EUR per year) and leaves plenty for living costs. If you are from outside the EEA, your tuition fee is much higher (around 15,000 EUR per year), so the scholarship covers only part of it. The Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies awards two of these scholarships each year.

Who can apply

• Programme: You want to start the two-year, English-taught Research Master's in Philosophy at Radboud University.
• Previous degree: You hold a bachelor's degree relevant to this master's.
• Where you come from: You are an international student. Both EU/EEA and non-EEA nationals can apply.
• Grades: You have excellent academic results.

How to apply

You apply through the OSIRIS Application online system and tick that you want to be considered for the faculty scholarship. Upload a separate motivation letter for the scholarship that explains why you need it to study at Radboud. This letter must differ from your master's application letter. The deadline is usually 1 May for a September start and 1 November for a February start, and it can differ from the master's application deadline. Incomplete applications are not considered.

How realistic are your chances?

Only two scholarships are handed out each year, and they go to one specific research master's. This makes it a tightly contested award in a small, specialised field. Strong grades and a convincing case for why you need the funding set applicants apart. If you clearly fit the philosophy research master's and can show excellent results, apply early and put real effort into the separate motivation letter.
