Radboud Scholarship Programme

For a full Master’s programme at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, you will pay a reduced tuition fee of 2,771 EUR. Without the scholarship, you would pay around 19,000 EUR, depending on your programme. The scholarship also covers your visa, residence permit and health and third-party liability insurance for the duration of your stay. It applies for the standard duration of your Master’s programme, i.e. one or two years. For 2027/2028, a maximum of 22 scholarships are available across six faculties. This is a partial scholarship provided by the university. Please note that your living costs are not covered.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You hold a passport issued by a country outside the EU or the EEA and are not otherwise eligible for the reduced tuition fees applicable to EU or EEA citizens.
• Degree: You hold a bachelor’s degree obtained outside the Netherlands (or are due to receive one shortly) and have not previously undertaken any studies in the Netherlands. An exchange programme that formed part of your bachelor’s degree programme abroad is permitted.
• Admission: You have been granted unconditional, formal admission to an English-taught Master’s programme at Radboud University, starting on 1 September 2027.
• Field of study: All English-taught Master’s programmes are recognised, with the exception of Erasmus Mundus and joint degree programmes.
• English: You meet the English language requirements for your chosen Master’s programme.
• Enrolment: You are studying full-time and meet the Dutch visa requirements.
• Grades: You have an excellent track record. Your marks, test results and any publications will be taken into account during the selection process.

How to apply

If you are applying for a Master’s programme, tick the box for the Radboud Scholarship and upload two letters of recommendation (preferably from an academic source) and a CV. Submit your application by 31 January (23:59 CET). The complete application must be received by mid-February, and you will be notified of the decision before mid-April. Admission and selection for the scholarship are two separate processes, and interviews are held for some programmes.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is highly selective: there are a maximum of 22 places for the entire university and only a handful per faculty. Even though only students from countries outside the EU/EEA are eligible to apply, competition is therefore fierce. Admission to your Master’s programme does not in itself guarantee that you will be awarded the scholarship. The key factors are good grades, a compelling personal statement and strong references. If your academic performance is outstanding and you apply by the January deadline, you have a real chance of success.
