About this scholarship

Scholarship for a study stay in Regensburg

You will be awarded a funded exchange semester at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg, a state-funded university of applied sciences in Germany. It lasts for one or two semesters. Some scholarship holders also undertake a work placement with one of the companies that support the foundation, such as Bayernwerk, Krones, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen or REWAG. The scholarship is awarded by the Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg, which has supported more than 200 international students in this way since 2000. No fixed monthly amount is specified on the website.

Who can apply

  • Your home university: You are studying at a university that is an international partner institution of OTH Regensburg.
  • Where you go: You are coming to Regensburg for one or two exchange semesters.
  • Region: The programme focuses on students from partner universities in Central and Eastern Europe, including Ukraine.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Language: For degree programmes taught in German, you will need a level B2 of German; for degree programmes taught in English, you will need a level B2 of English. B2 means that you will be able to follow the lectures and participate confidently in class.

How to apply

You must first apply to your home university, which will then nominate you to OTH. The deadlines for nomination are 1 May for the winter semester and 15 November for the summer semester. Your own application to OTH must be received by 1 June (winter semester) or 1 December (summer semester). You will be notified of the result around mid-June or mid-December respectively.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is highly selective. You must already be studying at one of OTH’s partner universities, and as the focus is on Central and Eastern Europe, the pool of eligible applicants is small. If your home university nominates you and you meet the language requirements, your chances are good, as your own university oversees the nomination process. It is advisable to apply early via your International Office.
