Rotary International Student House (RISH) scholarship

You will receive a one-off payment of about 10,000 SEK (around 890 EUR). Every year, the fund awards 7 to 10 of these scholarships. It is managed by the Gothenburg Federation of Student Unions (GFS) in collaboration with Rotary and helps international visiting students to cover the costs of their studies in Sweden.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled in higher education in Gothenburg, for example at the University of Gothenburg or Chalmers University of Technology.
• How long you have studied: You have been enrolled for at least one year.
• Tuition fees: You pay tuition fees for your degree course.
• Nationality: You are an international student from abroad.
• Field of study: Applicants from all disciplines are welcome to apply. The committee attaches great importance to attracting applicants from a wide range of degree programmes.

How to apply

Download the application form from the GFS website, complete it and submit it by email. You can apply each year between 1 August and 6 October. A panel comprising representatives from Rotary and the Students’ Union will then decide who receives a scholarship.

How realistic are your chances?

The target group is narrowly defined: you must be a fee-paying international student who has already been studying at a higher education institution in Gothenburg for one year. This keeps the pool of applicants small. With 7 to 10 scholarships available each year, and a selection committee keen to distribute them across a range of degree programmes, a well-suited applicant stands a fair chance. It is advisable to apply early.
