About this scholarship

RREF Hardship Grant

You get a one-off payment of up to about 1,150 EUR (1,000 GBP) per academic year if you hit sudden money trouble during your studies. This is emergency help, not monthly support. It is meant for students whose finances change unexpectedly, for example after a job loss or a family crisis. The grant comes from the Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF), funded by former students, company donors and fundraising events at the University of Reading.

Who can apply

  • University and subject: You currently study at the Department of Real Estate & Planning, Henley Business School, University of Reading.
  • Level: You are an undergraduate or postgraduate student.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study on one of these programmes.
  • Financial need: An unexpected event has pushed you into financial hardship during your course.

How to apply

There is no fixed deadline, so you can apply at any time during the year. Email RREF to request the application pack, then send back the application form and an income-and-expenditure sheet. The RREF Disbursements Committee decides who gets the award.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut very narrowly: only students in one department at one university, and only those facing a genuine, unexpected financial emergency. That keeps the applicant pool small. If you clearly fit and can document your changed circumstances, your prospects are good.
