Santander Scholarship (University of Plymouth, 2025/26)

What you get

You get a one-off payment of 5,000 GBP (about 5,800 EUR) to help with study costs such as tuition fees, course materials, accommodation or career development. The idea is that you can cut back on part-time work during your final year and focus on your degree. The University of Plymouth awards two of these scholarships for the 2025/26 academic year, funded together with Santander Universities. You also get free access to online courses on the Santander Open Academy learning platform. You do not need to be a Santander customer.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You study full time at the University of Plymouth.
• Study stage: You start your final year of a bachelor's degree in September 2026. This includes students currently on a placement year (a year of work experience that counts towards the degree).
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Grades: You are on track for a 2:1 or higher (an upper second-class degree, one grade band below the top).
• Age: You are at least 18.
• Residence: You live in the UK and pay the lower home tuition rate, not the international rate.
• Work and need: You work, have worked, or plan to work at least 16 hours a week in a part-time job because you need the money. That job is not part of your studies.

How to apply

You apply through the Santander Open Academy platform. Register for free, verify your email and fill in a short application form. You then complete an online assessment with questions about your skills, motivation and working style. The deadline is 19 February 2026 at 11:00pm. Winners are the eligible applicants with the highest assessment scores. There is no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

Only two scholarships go to Plymouth students, so a single high-value award is genuinely competitive. But the criteria are tightly cut: you must be entering your final year, on track for a 2:1, and working part-time because you need the money. If you match all of these, the eligible pool at your university is smaller than for open scholarships, and a strong online assessment gives you a real shot.
