About this scholarship

What you get

You get a tuition fee discount of about 2,900 EUR per year (£2,500) for each year of your bachelor's degree at the University of Sheffield. Over a four-year programme that adds up to about 11,600 EUR (£10,000). You never see the money as cash. It comes straight off your tuition fees. Sheffield offers this to international students starting a bachelor's degree in September 2027.

Who can apply

  • Start date: You start a bachelor's degree at the University of Sheffield in September 2027. You normally enter in year 1. Starting in year 2 or 3 also works if you are not already funded through a joint programme with your home university.
  • Fee status: You count as an overseas (international) student for tuition fees.
  • Funding: You pay for your own studies. You cannot get this if an outside body (government, charity, company or similar) covers your fees. A loan you repay in full is fine.
  • Study mode: You study full time on campus. Online or distance learning does not count.
  • Field of study: Open to all bachelor's courses except Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200). MArch programmes and students on a non-USIC foundation year cannot get it.
  • No double funding: You cannot combine this with another Sheffield scholarship or discount unless stated otherwise.
  • Keeping it each year: To get the discount again in later years you need an average of at least 60% and at least 120 credits from the previous year.

How to apply

There is no separate application. You get the discount automatically if you make the University of Sheffield your firm or insurance choice in UCAS before 16:00 UK time on Wednesday 2 June 2027. You do not need to reapply in later years.

How realistic are your chances?

No panel decides this award. Every eligible international undergraduate who meets the criteria and picks Sheffield in time gets it automatically. So your only real task is to fit the conditions, above all the overseas fee status, self-funding and an eligible course, and to make Sheffield your firm or insurance choice before the June deadline. Keep your average above 60% to hold onto it in later years.
