Erasmus+ KA131 Mobility Grants (SEPIE/Junta de Andalucia supplementary grants)

What you get

You get a monthly grant to study abroad for a semester or a full year on Erasmus+, plus a one-off travel allowance. The University of Malaga (UMA) in Spain runs the programme and combines two sources of money: an EU grant managed by Spain's SEPIE agency, and an automatic top-up from the regional government of Andalusia. The monthly rate depends on where you go:

• Pricier countries (Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, UK and similar): 310 EUR from the EU, plus up to 263 EUR from Andalusia.
• Mid-range countries (Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal and similar): 260 EUR from the EU, plus up to 203 EUR from Andalusia.
• Lower-cost countries (Poland, Czechia, Romania, Turkey and similar): 210 EUR from the EU, plus up to 105 EUR from Andalusia.
• Outside Europe: 700 EUR/month from the EU.

You also get a one-off travel grant from 23 EUR for short trips up to 1,500 EUR for distances over 8,000 km, with an extra 50 EUR if you travel by low-carbon transport such as train or bus. If you receive a state grant, are a recognised refugee, or have a disability of 33% or more, both amounts rise: the EU grant goes up to 460-950 EUR/month depending on the country. A disability of 33% or more also covers 100% of your extra costs abroad. Short study trips of 5 to 30 days (called BIPs, Blended Intensive Programmes) pay 70 EUR per day for the first 14 days, then 50 EUR per day.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of Malaga in a Bachelor's (Grado) degree.
• Credits: You have passed at least 60 ECTS credits in that degree. With fewer than 18 ECTS left to graduate, you can only apply for a one-semester place.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you are a UMA student. Incoming exchange students cannot apply.
• Where you go: A partner university abroad, in Europe or beyond, for 2 to 12 months (up to 24 months for Medicine and Architecture).
• Grades: Places are ranked by your weighted average grade, so stronger marks help. First-time Erasmus applicants are ranked ahead of repeat applicants.

How to apply

You apply online through UMA's ALGORIA platform and upload a language certificate. For the 2026/2027 round the application window ran from 10 to 29 October 2025. A second round in January picks up anyone left without a place, and the next round is expected in autumn 2026. There is no interview. Selection is by grade ranking, with ties broken by most credits, then age, then a public draw.

How realistic are your chances?

Only UMA Bachelor students with 60 ECTS can apply, so the applicant pool is limited to one university. UMA holds one of Spain's largest Erasmus budgets (about 4.99 million EUR for 2026). Getting funding is near-automatic once you win a place, so the real competition is the grade ranking for popular destinations. If your marks are solid, you apply as a first-timer, and you are flexible on where you go, your prospects are good.
