What you get

You get financial help to stay in your studies at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid if money problems put your degree at risk. There are three types of support, awarded in this order of priority as the budget allows. First, a tuition grant that covers all or part of your enrolment fees for 2025-2026 (for a master's this is capped at 2,100 EUR). If budget remains, a flat housing grant of 3,000 EUR if you have to rent a place away from your family home to study. If money is still left, a flat study top-up of 200 EUR for books and materials. The total pot for 2025-2026 is about 1.19 million EUR, funded by the Comunidad de Madrid through the URJC.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled at URJC in an official Grado (bachelor's) or Master's degree for 2025-2026, at one of its own centres, and have not dropped out.
• Financial need: Your family income does not exceed the fourth income threshold. That is up to 8% above the top limit for the national tuition grant, for example about 16,003 EUR for a one-person household or about 44,035 EUR for a four-person household, based on 2024 income.
• Situation: Your money, social or family problems have hurt your grades and threaten your ability to continue.
• Nationality: You are Spanish or from another EU country. Non-EU students must prove legal residence in Spain as of 31 December 2024. A student residence permit alone does not count.
• Degree level: You do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level than the one you are studying.
• No double funding: You are not getting other public or private aid for the same purpose this year. The tuition grant cannot be combined with the Ministry of Education grant (Beca MEC), though the 200 EUR study top-up can.

How to apply

You apply online through the URJC aid platform. Fill in the form and upload the required documents. For 2025-2026 the window runs from 8 April to 28 April 2026. A university committee scores each application and awards the grants by priority order.

How realistic are your chances?

This help is limited to URJC students who can document real financial need, so the eligible group is much smaller than for open scholarships. The budget goes to tuition grants first, so those are the most likely to come through. Housing and study top-ups depend on money being left over. If you clearly meet the income limit and apply within the short window, your prospects for the tuition grant are reasonable.
