Warwick Bursary

You get a non-repayable grant of about EUR 580 to EUR 2,900 per year (£500 to £2,500) to help with course-related costs at the University of Warwick. The exact amount depends on your family's income: £2,500 if the household income is up to £25,000, £1,250 between £25,000 and £35,000, and £500 between £35,000 and £42,875. For 2025-26, the income is taken from the 2023-24 tax year. Warwick pays it in three equal instalments across the year and renews it every year as long as you still meet the criteria. You never pay it back.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a full-time undergraduate at Warwick with Home fee status (the lower tuition rate for UK-based students).
• Where you live: Your home is in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Students from Wales cannot apply, because Student Finance Wales gives them a wider support package.
• Financial need: Your family income is £42,875 (about EUR 49,700) or below.
• Student Finance check: You have asked Student Finance England, Student Finance Northern Ireland or the Student Awards Agency Scotland to assess your household income. You must request this assessment even if you do not want a loan.
• Field of study: All subjects.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Warwick gets a list of possibly eligible students from Student Finance and checks the criteria automatically, starting at the end of August each year. If you qualify, you get an email confirming your award. Medical students in years 2 to 4 of the MBChB course are the exception: they must request a household income assessment themselves.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. If you meet the income threshold and the residence and enrolment rules, you get it automatically, with no application and no selection. The one thing that can hold up your payment is a late Student Finance application, so complete your income assessment early. If your household income is at or below £42,875, your prospects are effectively certain.
