Alliance Française Stockholm - "Amitié Franco-Suédoise" Scholarships

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant of 20,000 SEK (about 1,800 EUR) to study at a university in France. The grant is awarded by the Alliance Française Stockholm in collaboration with L’Amitié Franco-Suédoise, a Swedish association that has been promoting study visits to France for over a century. As the association’s aim is to promote study in the French language, your courses at the French university must be taught predominantly in French and not in English.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a Swedish citizen.
• Where you study: You are studying at a university or other higher education institution in France. You cannot apply if you are already living in France.
• Length of studies: Your stay must last at least 4 months, usually one or two semesters. Purely language courses and short study visits are not taken into account.
• French skills: You have at least level 5 in French from the Swedish upper or lower secondary school.
• Level: You are studying at a university, unless you already have a PhD.
• Timing: Your degree programme begins in the autumn of the year in which you apply, or, where applicable, in the following spring. You cannot apply for degree programmes that have already started.
• Erasmus: Erasmus students may apply and must enclose proof of admission to a French higher education institution.
• Exclusion: You cannot apply if you attended the Lycée Français Saint-Louis in Stockholm.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online application system between 1 March and 15 April each year, and no later than 23:59 on 15 April. Applications sent by email will not be accepted. Please attach your academic transcripts and proof of the credits you have earned to the form. Only successful applicants will be notified by email before 15 May.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are quite strict: you must be a Swedish national, study predominantly in French in France, and have reached a level of French equivalent to 5. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. If you clearly meet these criteria – and particularly if you plan to study entirely or partly in French, which is preferred – your chances are good. Please submit a complete application well in advance of 15 April, as incomplete applications will not be considered.
