Nordplus grant at Lund University

You get a monthly study grant plus a travel allowance to spend 1 to 12 months studying at a university in another Nordic or Baltic country. The amount depends on your faculty's network, your destination country, how long you stay and how many students apply. For the university-wide Nordlys network the grant is up to 12,000 SEK per semester (about 1,050 EUR). Other faculty networks may pay different amounts. The money comes from the Nordic Council of Ministers and covers the extra costs of your exchange.

Who can apply

• University: You study at Lund University in Sweden.
• Level: You are a Bachelor's or Master's student.
• Where you go: You study in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Åland, Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania. You cannot use the grant at another Swedish university.
• Field of study: Open to many subjects through faculty networks, for example engineering (Nordtek, at LTH), business and economics (Norek), and medicine, nursing and midwifery. If your faculty has no network, the university-wide Nordlys network covers you.
• Study progress: For the Nordtek engineering network you need at least 120 credits when you apply. Other networks want students in the later part of their studies.
• No double funding: You cannot hold an Erasmus+ grant and a Nordplus grant at the same time.

How to apply

You apply through your department or faculty. First you must be nominated for an exchange in the Nordic countries. After that, your international coordinator tells you which grant you can apply for and the deadline. Deadlines are set per network, so there is no single common date.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is only for Lund University students already going on a Nordic or Baltic exchange, so the eligible group is small and you compete mainly within your own faculty network. The main hurdles are winning the exchange nomination and meeting your network's rules, such as the 120-credit mark for engineering. A grant is not guaranteed even once you are on exchange. If you also have an Erasmus+ option, that route usually pays a bit more.
