Willinska Foundation grant

You will receive a grant tailored to your individual needs for a course, study programme or training outside your regular school education. The amount is not fixed in advance. It depends on your plans and the costs involved. The grant can cover anything from a short course to a full academic year, and you can study in Sweden or abroad. The Willinska Foundation has been supporting young people from Gothenburg since 1767 and awards these grants in collaboration with the ‘Stiftelsen Göteborgs Arbetsstugor’ foundation.

Who can apply

• Age: You are 22 years old.
• Ties to Gothenburg: You grew up in Gothenburg and attended primary and secondary school there. This is stated in your application.
• What you study: Courses, degree programmes or vocational training outside the regular school system, in any field. These may take place in Sweden or abroad, including an exchange programme.
• CSN status: CSN is the state student grant in Sweden, which consists of a grant component and a loan component. You must state your CSN status in your application. If your course is not eligible for CSN, you must provide evidence of this. If you are entitled to a CSN loan but choose to claim only the grant and not the loan, you will not be able to receive any funding from the Foundation.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation’s application system. There are four application rounds per year, with deadlines on 2 February, 6 April, 24 August and 2 November. You will receive a response approximately 6 weeks after the deadline for the relevant application round has passed.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant scheme is very narrowly defined. You must fall under the 22 category and be able to prove that you grew up in Gothenburg and attended school there, which means that the group of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet these criteria and submit a complete application with the required CSN decision and proof of enrolment, your chances are good. Incomplete applications will simply not be considered.
