Travel scholarship from Swedbanks Ägarstiftelse Väst

You receive a one-off payment of 25,000 SEK (about 2,200 EUR) to help pay for a study period abroad that lasts longer than 8 weeks. Swedbank and its foundation Swedbanks Ägarstiftelse Väst have set aside 50,000 SEK in total for Högskolan Väst (University West) in Sweden. This is split into 2 scholarships of 25,000 SEK each. The money supports exchange semesters and study trips at one of the university's partner universities.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled at Högskolan Väst in Trollhättan, Sweden.
• Study level: You are a bachelor's (kandidatnivå) or master's (magisternivå) student.
• Where you go: You are applying for an exchange place at one of the university's partner universities, for a stay longer than 8 weeks.
• No other funding: You do not already receive money from another exchange programme such as Erasmus+. Only students without other funding are considered.
• Extra plus: It counts in your favour if your studies abroad link to one of the UN Agenda 2030 global goals for sustainable development.

How to apply

You do not send a separate application. Your regular application for an exchange semester also counts as your scholarship application. The decision is based on the motivation letter (motivationsbrev) you attach to that application. The main deadline is 15 February for the next academic year. A later round on 30 September covers the coming spring term only.

How realistic are your chances?

Only 2 scholarships are handed out. The pool is limited to Högskolan Väst students going abroad without other funding, so it is a much smaller group than an open award. If you fit that gap, apply on time and write a strong motivation letter, your prospects are reasonable. Linking in an Agenda 2030 goal helps.
