Johan and Hjalmar Kallenberg Scholarship

You will receive a cash grant to fund your studies after completing your A-levels. The exact amount is determined on a case-by-case basis and is not published. In recent years, the foundation has paid out approximately 4 million SEK (around 350,000 EUR) annually to around 250 students. This corresponds on average to around 16,000 SEK (around 1,400 EUR) per person. You can receive the grant up to three times. It is awarded by the Kallenberg Foundation in Uppsala, which was established in 1952 to support young people from Uppsala County.

Who can apply

• Where you're from: You were born in Uppsala County or spent your entire secondary education (högstadiet or gymnasium) there.
• Age: You are under 30.
• Level: You are studying at university after completing your A-levels, either on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme.
• Field of study: Your degree programme is in the fields of business, law, the skilled trades or engineering.
• Study progress: You have earned at least 22.5 credit points in the autumn semester. Resits for previous courses will not be counted towards this total.
• Studying abroad: You can apply if you are studying at a higher education institution officially recognised in this country. At most European higher education institutions, you will need 22.5 ECTS credits. Outside Europe, your higher education institution must convert your credits into ECTS credits.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Download the application form from the foundation’s website, complete it by hand using a ballpoint pen, and send it all by post. Digital submissions are not accepted. The deadline is 13 March. You will be notified of the result in May or June, and payment will be made at the end of August.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are strictly defined: applicants must be from the Uppsala district, be aged under 30, be studying specific subjects and demonstrate genuine academic progress. Consequently, the pool of eligible applicants is small. The foundation supports around 250 students each year, and you can apply up to three times. If you clearly meet the requirements and submit a complete, duly signed written application, your chances are good.
