About this scholarship

Lindhés Law firm research grant

You will receive a one-off research grant of up to 2,700 EUR for a medical research project. The funds come from several charitable foundations administered by the law firm Lindhés Advokatbyrå in Stockholm. The grant may also cover travel and accommodation costs, as well as the registration fee for attending a scientific conference, for example to present a poster or give a talk. It is not intended to fund salaries and does not cover studies that are already covered by the standard Swedish student finance scheme (CSN).

Who can apply

  • Who it is for: You are a researcher who is still at the start of your career. This includes doctoral students (PhD candidates) and postdoctoral researchers (researchers who have recently completed their PhD).
  • Research field: You work in the medical or care sector. The foundations support research into the treatment and prevention of common diseases, ageing and care, as well as healthcare for children, older people and people with disabilities.
  • Type of research: Your project is independent. Research tied to companies or the pharmaceutical industry is not funded, and animal experiments only in rare cases. You must declare any financial ties.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • University: You can apply, regardless of where you’re studying or working.

How to apply

Apply each year between 1 January and 1 March via the foundations’ online system. Applications received outside this period will not be processed; only complete applications will be considered. The foundations’ boards of trustees usually make their decisions in May or June.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is narrowly defined. You must be working as a medical researcher – often at the start of your career – and be working on a specific set of topics relating to healthcare and disease. Consequently, fewer people are eligible than for open calls for funding. If your project clearly falls within one of the funded areas and is independent of industry, your prospects are good. A clear financial plan will strengthen your application, and for conference funding you will also need a detailed breakdown of costs.
