Adolf Lindgren Foundation student scholarship

You will receive an annual grant. The amount depends on your level of education. If you are studying at a university, a university of applied sciences (högskola/universitet) or a vocational college (yrkeshögskola), you will receive 35,000 SEK per study year (about 3,150 EUR). You can also apply for the grant for just one term. If you are studying at a secondary school (Gymnasium, Komvux), you will receive 13,000 SEK per study year (about 1,170 EUR). The exact amount is set each year by the board and may therefore change. You can reapply in subsequent years, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria. The funding comes from the Adolf Lindgren Foundation in Örebro, Sweden, and is not tied to any specific purpose, such as a study trip.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a secondary school, an adult education centre (Komvux), an adult education centre (Volkshochschule), a university, a university of applied sciences or a vocational school in Sweden.
• Enrolment: You are studying full-time for at least one semester.
• Study phase: In upper secondary school from the second year onwards (adult education centres: from the first year). At university from the second year of study onwards, with at least 60 recognised university credits (vocational colleges and adult education centres: from the first year).
• Region: You have been officially registered in Örebro County (Örebro län) for at least 5 years. If you moved away to study, you will still meet the requirements provided that you lived there for 5 years immediately prior to your move.
• Age: At the end of the application period, you will be at 30.
• Financial need: Your household income and assets are below the upper limit set by the Foundation. You must provide evidence of this in your application by setting out your household finances.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
• Grades: You don’t need top marks. Anyone who meets the criteria can apply.
• Not eligible: PhD students and researchers are not eligible to apply.

How to apply

You apply online via the Foundation’s application system and authenticate your identity using BankID. The application period runs from summer into autumn and closes on 18 September. The Board of Trustees makes the decision, and the grant is paid out in December.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is strictly limited by region and age. You must have been resident in Örebro County for at least 5 years and be younger than 30, which means that the pool of eligible applicants is small. Academic results are not a factor; the main criterion is genuine financial hardship. Your chances are good if you clearly meet the eligibility criteria regarding residence, age and income, and can provide evidence of this. Please note that the number of scholarships varies each year depending on the foundation’s income.
