Thordén foundation scholarships and grants

You will receive a one-off scholarship of 15,000 SEK (about 1,400 EUR) if you are a talented pupil or sportsman or sportswoman from Bohuslän, a coastal region in western Sweden. Each year, the foundation awards a fixed number of grants: two music grants, two grants for students in other artistic disciplines, ten grants for upper secondary school pupils, two sports grants and two leadership grants. Athletes from Bohuslän sports clubs who have a realistic chance of competing in European Championships, World Championships or the Olympic Games may instead receive a training grant, which is usually between 20,000 and 40,000 SEK (approximately 1,800 to 3,600 EUR). The foundation was established in 1958 to promote sport, culture and community life in Bohuslän.

Who can apply

• Where you are from: You have a connection to Bohuslän, either as a pupil there or as a member of a sports club in Bohuslän.
• What you do: You are a talented student of music or art, a sixth-form student, a promising sportsman or sportswoman, or a leader in the world of sport.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible. The award is linked to schools and clubs in Bohuslän, not to your passport.
• How you get chosen: You cannot apply yourself. The foundation approaches schools and sports clubs, which then put forward candidates.
