What the Jacobsson Foundation scholarship gives you

You receive a one-off grant of 100,000 to 600,000 SEK (about 8,800 to 53,000 EUR). There are two separate lines, and each pays out once. The entrepreneur scholarship funds education that develops you and your business, for example a leadership or business-development course. It cannot pay for patents or equipment. The research scholarship funds a research project tied to a Swedish university. The foundation is based in Gothenburg and named after Atlet founder Knut Jacobsson. It backs entrepreneurship, growth, logistics, innovation, quality, internationalisation, ergonomics and design. In 2025 it gave out 2,470,000 SEK to five people: three entrepreneurs and two researchers.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You apply as an individual, not as a company. You are either an entrepreneur running your own business or a researcher.
• Entrepreneurs: You run a company registered in Sweden and can show at least one recent annual report. You work in Sweden, and the grant must go towards a specific course with a clear syllabus.
• Researchers: Your project is attached to a Swedish university or college, and you live in Sweden.
• Field focus: Your work fits one of these areas: logistics, innovation, quality, internationalisation, ergonomics or design. You name which one in your application.
• What convinces them: Entrepreneurial drive, a workable and innovative idea, and either a real market need or an important problem your research solves.

How to apply

You apply online through the SEB grant portal between 1 March and 31 July each year, in Swedish. Winners get a personal phone call; no call means you were not selected. If chosen, you attend the award ceremony in Gothenburg in November and briefly present yourself and your project.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. You must be based in Sweden and either run a Swedish company with a filed annual report or lead a project at a Swedish university. Your idea must also fit the foundation's focus areas. That keeps the applicant pool small, but with only a handful of grants each year the field is still competitive. A clear, business-minded case that fits one of the named areas gives a well-matched applicant solid prospects.
