What you get

You will receive a project grant from the Swedish Nurses’ Association (Svensk sjuksköterskeförening) for your own research or clinical development work. The amount is not fixed and varies each year depending on the availability of funds. In previous funding rounds, grant amounts ranged from approximately 9,000 SEK to 42,900 SEK (approximately 800 EUR to 3,800 EUR). You may use the funds for a single project, a sub-study as part of your research, the presentation of an accepted abstract at a conference, attendance at a conference, or for services such as those provided by a statistician. The grant does not cover loss of income or salary and cannot be used to fund a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis.

Who can apply

• Profession: You are a state-registered nurse (legitimerad sjuksköterska).
• Membership: You are a member of the Swedish Nursing Association.
• Your work: You work in nursing research or development, would like to launch a clinical development project, or are just starting your PhD.
• Project type: You are applying as an individual, not as a group or team. In the case of a PhD project, you are applying for a sub-project, not for the entire project.
• Conference timing: If you are applying for a grant to cover conference costs, the conference must take place no earlier than 2 months after the application deadline, and your abstract must already have been accepted.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you are a state-registered nurse and a member.

How to apply

Log in to the members’ portal at swenurse.se and complete the application form. Please include a project description, the start and end dates, and a cost estimate. The deadline is 15 October 2026 at 14:00. You may submit your application in Swedish (preferred) or English. You will receive a response in approximately 9 weeks.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is narrowly defined: you must be a registered care worker and a paying member, and be carrying out a specific research or development project. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants remains small. If you meet these criteria and submit a clear project description and a detailed financial plan, your chances are good. The funding amounts are modest and depend on the funds available each year; therefore, a focused, well-justified application will stand out in particular.
