About this scholarship

What the Family Wikanders Foundation offers

You will receive a personalised grant to help you further your work as an artist or cultural practitioner in Gothenburg. There is no set amount: you specify the amount you require in your application. The money is intended for your own professional development, for example to cover course fees, materials for experimenting with existing or new techniques, or for an educational or inspirational trip. The Swedish foundation, based in Gothenburg, supports the city’s artistic and cultural life. The grant is intended solely for personal development. You must not use it for exhibitions, publications or profit-making activities.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You work as an individual artist or cultural practitioner. Non-profit organisations such as museums and galleries operating in Gothenburg may also apply for funding for cultural projects in the city.
  • Where you live: You live in Gothenburg.
  • Field: You work in the arts, culture or a related creative field.
  • Use of the money: You wish to use it for your own further education or personal development, not for an exhibition, a publication or any other profit-making purposes.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are resident in Gothenburg.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the Foundation’s online portal. The application period runs each year from 1 February to 15 November. If your application is successful, you will be notified by email in December.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very specific: you must live in Gothenburg and be active in the arts or culture sector, so the pool of applicants is small and limited to the local area. If you clearly fit this profile and can set out in concrete terms how the funding would support your own development, your chances are good. A targeted application for a specific course, materials or a trip stands out more than a general application.
