About this scholarship

What you get

You receive a one-off grant of at least 30,000 SEK (about 2,650 EUR) for a specific project: a course, a study plan, a research project, a conference trip or an art project. In 2025, 48 women shared 2.4 million SEK, on average about 50,000 SEK (roughly 4,400 EUR) each. The amount matches the budget you submit, and the funding period depends on your project. The award comes from the Iris Jonzén-Sandblom and Greta Jonzéns Foundation, which supports the education of women. It is handed over at a ceremony in Gothenburg each April.

Who can apply

  • Gender: You are a woman. Only women can apply.
  • Where you live: Any country. You can live in Sweden or abroad.
  • Field: Any subject. The foundation gives preference to work that helps other women, such as medical or care research from a women's perspective, women in business, or female inventors and innovators.
  • Career stage: Women who are not yet established are preferred.
  • Motivation: You show strong ability and drive and have a real chance of reaching your goal. The decision rests mostly on your motivation, not on grades or formal qualifications.
  • Your project: It has not started yet (no money for work already done), it is not a commercial venture, and you ask for at least 30,000 SEK with a budget attached.

How to apply

You apply once a year through the foundation's online portal, where you first create an account. The window runs from 1 November to 15 January at 23:59, and you must write your application in Swedish. A committee reviews all entries and the board makes the final decision. You hear back by email by 30 March at the latest.

How realistic are your chances?

The award is open to any woman anywhere, so it draws a large field: around 800 applications for 48 grants in 2025. What sets applicants apart is a convincing, well-motivated project, ideally one that benefits other women, since the committee weighs your motivation far more than your grades. A clear budget, a project that has not started, and a strong case for why you deserve it give you the best prospects.
