College of Europe scholarship (UHR)

You get 80 percent of the full College of Europe fee paid for one academic year. That fee covers tuition, accommodation and meals, so the scholarship is worth about 24,000 EUR at the Bruges campus, 23,200 EUR at Natolin (Warsaw) and 21,600 EUR at Tirana. These figures are based on the 2026/2027 fees of 30,000 EUR, 29,000 EUR and 27,000 EUR. The year runs from mid-September to the end of June. For the two-year Transatlantic Affairs master it runs correspondingly longer. The scholarship is managed by Universitets- och högskolerådet (UHR), the Swedish Council for Higher Education, and goes to a limited number of admitted Swedish students each year. If you win other scholarships too and the combined amount tops 100 percent of the fee, the excess is deducted.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a Swedish citizen.
• Admission: You are already admitted to the College of Europe for the coming year, at the Bruges, Natolin or Tirana campus.
• Study level: You have a first degree and are starting a one-year postgraduate master in European studies.
• Field of study: All the College's programmes count, from EU economics, law and international relations to European interdisciplinary, security and transatlantic studies.

How to apply

First you apply to the College of Europe through its website. The window for the 2027/2028 year runs from mid-October 2026 to mid-January 2027. The College selects candidates through the application and interviews. Once you receive your admission letter, email UHR within one week to be added to the list of eligible scholars.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: you must be a Swedish citizen and already admitted to the College of Europe, which itself has a demanding selection. That keeps the competing group small. If more admitted Swedish students apply than there are places, UHR spreads the awards across campuses and programmes and gives priority to those with the highest College ranking. So a strong application and interview matter most.
