JTF technology thesis prize

You get a one-off prize of 30,000 SEK (about 2,700 EUR) for the best master's-level thesis on technology in agriculture. You also gain contacts in the farming and food-technology industry and a chance to present your work at the association's annual meeting. The award comes from Jordbrukstekniska föreningen (JTF), a Swedish professional body for agricultural technology. JTF has awarded it every year since 2019.

Who can apply

• Degree level: Your thesis is at Swedish master's or magister level (D or E level), or an equivalent.
• Topic: Your work deals with technology, physics, chemistry, logistics, IT or operations analysis and connects to the food chain, from farm production to consumption. Work that can be applied in Swedish crop or animal farming has an edge.
• Timing: Your examiner approved your thesis during the calendar year before the JTF annual meeting.
• Who nominates: You can put yourself forward as the author, or your supervisor or examiner can nominate you.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply. The focus on Swedish agriculture means work done at Swedish universities fits best.

How to apply

You, your supervisor or your examiner send the nomination and the thesis by email to the JTF secretary. The deadline is 31 January before the annual meeting. The jury announces its decision before the meeting, where the prize is awarded in May.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single annual prize in one narrow field: master's theses on agricultural technology relevant to Swedish farming. The pool is small. If your thesis clearly fits that focus and was approved in the right year, a nomination stands a real chance. Since only one work wins each year, the practical strength and Swedish application potential of your thesis are what set it apart.
