What you get

You get back the cost of a language course, up to 5,000 SEK (about 440 EUR), as a one-off reimbursement. The course must be in the language of the country you go to on exchange. You can take it before or during your semester abroad. You pay for the course yourself first, then get the money back once you show the receipt. This support comes from the School of Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Who can apply

• Your school: You study at KTH's ABE School (Architecture and the Built Environment).
• Exchange place: The ABE School has officially nominated you for a study exchange abroad. If you organise your own exchange (freemover), you cannot apply.
• Length abroad: Your stay abroad lasts at least one semester or one study year.
• Language of the course: The course is in the language of your host country. Courses in English or Swedish are not covered.
• First time: You have never received this language grant before. It is paid once.
• Timing: You apply for a current or upcoming exchange. You cannot claim a past exchange semester afterwards.

How to apply

Hand in the ABE application form together with the receipt for the language course you paid for. Give it to the ABE School's international coordinator. The money lands in your account roughly two to three months after you apply.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed at a narrow group: you must already be an ABE student nominated by the school for an exchange, and you must take a course in the host country's language. If you fit those conditions and keep your receipt, there is little standing between you and the refund. It is a set reimbursement, not a contest for a few places.
