Children and Environment Foundation Grants

What the Children and Environment Foundation funds

You will receive a grant for a project that teaches children or young people about the environment or that promotes environmental research and education. The amount of the grant is not fixed. You should state in your application the amount you require, and the Foundation’s Board will decide on this. To date, grants have been awarded for, amongst other things, summer camps, scout groups, pupils’ technical experiments on environmental topics, school trips with an environmental focus and 4H projects. The funding comes from ‘Stiftelsen Barn och Miljö’ (the Children and Environment Foundation), which was founded in 1992 by Anni-Frid Lyngstad of ABBA.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You can apply as an individual, a research group, an institution or a similar organisation. You do not need to be a student.
• Your project: You are leading an environmental project that focuses on children and young people – either on their environment or on their wellbeing.
• Field of study: Any topic is suitable, provided the project relates to the key themes of ‘the environment’ and ‘children’.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Where: Your project will be carried out in Sweden.

How to apply

Request the application form via the contact form on the foundation’s website. Return it to us, signed, by post or as a scan via email. In your application, please state what you need the money for, provide a financial plan, indicate when you will need the funds, explain how you will report on the project, and state whether you have already applied for funding from other organisations. The deadline is 15 March each year, and the board reviews the applications around mid-April.
