Crafoord Foundation Travel Grant (Lund University)

You get a one-off travel grant for a study-related stay abroad. A shorter stay pays 15,000 SEK (about 1,300 EUR). A longer stay pays 30,000 SEK (about 2,600 EUR). The shorter grant covers a one-semester exchange, or a traineeship or thesis data collection of 3 to 7 weeks. The longer grant covers a two-semester exchange, or a traineeship, data collection or clinical placement of at least 8 weeks in a row. Most stays must be outside the EU. Clinical placements and work placements can be anywhere in the world, including the EU. The money comes from the Crafoord Foundation and is paid out through Lund University.

Who can apply

• University: You are a full-time student at Lund University, both when you apply and during the semester you go abroad.
• Field of study: All subjects and faculties can apply.
• Study progress: You have at least 180 credits by the time you leave, of which at least 60 from Lund University. If you go to collect data for your bachelor's thesis, 150 credits (60 from Lund) is enough.
• Level: You are a bachelor's or master's student. PhD students cannot apply.
• Credit towards a degree: Your stay abroad must count towards your Lund University degree.
• Timing: Your stay must not start before the application deadline, and you cannot apply for a trip already begun or finished. Everything must be done before 31 August 2027.
• Other grants: You cannot hold another Lund University grant for the same period, such as Erasmus+ or Minor Field Studies. A previous Lund grant does not rule you out, but lowers your priority.

How to apply

You apply online at scholarship.se during one of two windows: 5 to 25 April, or 5 to 25 October. Write your application and upload all attachments in English as PDF files. Selection is based mainly on your grades in your most recent 30 credits and on your answers in the application.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is only for Lund University students who have already done a large part of their degree, so far fewer people can apply than for open scholarships. If you clearly meet the credit rules, have solid recent grades and a concrete plan for your stay, your prospects are good. A well-argued motivation and a complete set of documents are what set applicants apart.
