Gertrud och Sören Ekebjörns music scholarship (KMH)

You get money to fund further music studies in Germany or Austria after you finish a degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (Kungl. Musikhögskolan, KMH). There is no fixed amount. You draw up a budget for your planned studies and apply for the exact sum you need. The budget can cover tuition fees, accommodation and food, travel, insurance and other costs, minus any other funding you already have. The award is based on that need. The money comes from the Gertrud och Sören Ekebjörns foundation and is handled by KMH.

Who can apply

• Your instrument: You play a string instrument (violin, viola, cello or double bass).
• Your degree: You recently completed a degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH).
• Where you go: You want to continue your studies in Germany or Austria.
• Admission: You have an admission decision for the course you want to take. For private studies, you have a written invitation instead.
• Reference: You can provide a reference letter.

Fill in the application form from the KMH website and send it with your documents by post to KMH in Stockholm, or by email as a single PDF. The deadline is 21 August 2026, the first time the scholarship is offered.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut very narrowly. You must be a string player, a recent KMH graduate, and heading to Germany or Austria, so the eligible group is small. If you clearly meet those conditions and can document a solid, well-reasoned budget, your prospects are good. As a brand-new scholarship first offered in 2026, it is also less widely known than established awards.
