Anders Wall scholarship for Katedralskolan graduates

Upon graduating from Katedralskolan, a secondary school (Gymnasium) in Uppsala, Sweden, pupils receive a one-off award of 30,000 SEK (about 2,650 EUR). Two pupils are honoured with this award each year. The prize is awarded by the Anders Wall Foundation. The financier Anders Wall founded the foundation in 1981 and attended Katedralskolan himself as a teenager. The award is usually presented in June during the graduation ceremony.

Who can apply

• School: You’re finishing your studies at Katedralskolan in Uppsala.
• Grades: You’re doing well at school.
• Character: You are a valued classmate who fosters friendships and strengthens the sense of community at school.
• Financial need: Your need for support may be a factor, but it is not the main criterion.
• Field of study: All subject areas are open.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You cannot apply directly. Katedralskolan nominates the two winners from amongst its final-year pupils. The key factor is that your teachers view you favourably, both on the basis of your academic performance and the way you interact with your classmates.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is highly exclusive: only graduates from a single school in Uppsala are eligible, and only two are selected each year. No application needs to be submitted, so your chances depend on you standing out to your teachers both through your grades and your character. If you are a highly regarded pupil at Katedralskolan with outstanding academic achievements, you will be among the small group who, realistically speaking, stand a chance of being selected.
