Signe och Olof Wallenius Stiftelse - Signe and Olof Wallenius Scholarship

Signe and Olof Wallenius Scholarship

You will receive a sum of one-off grant of 10,000 to 15,000 SEK (about 900 to 1,330 EUR). This is a one-off payment, not a monthly or annual grant. The exact amount depends on how many applications are received this year. The money comes from the Signe och Olof Wallenius Stiftelse, a Swedish foundation established in 1984 which supports training in the fields of shipping, logistics and sustainability.

Who can apply

• Field of study: You’re studying shipping, logistics or sustainability.
• Length of programme: Your degree course lasts at least 3 years.
• Maritime officer training: If you are training to become a ship’s officer, you will only receive funding for the last two years of your course. At the time of applying, you must already have started your final or penultimate year of study.
• Language: Please write your application in Swedish.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Where you study: You can study at any university or college.

How to apply

You must submit your application documents to the Foundation every year between 1 January and 15 March. You will need a signed personal cover letter detailing your studies and your goals, as well as a certificate of enrolment showing your grades and your academic transcripts. There is no interview. The Board of Trustees will make a decision in May and notify you by email.

How realistic are your chances?

The award targets only students in shipping, logistics and sustainability, so the applicant pool is small. In recent years most grants went to maritime officer students. If you clearly fit the field and meet the timing rule, your prospects are good. The sum is modest, which keeps the field manageable. It helps to apply as soon as the window opens and to write a clear case in Swedish.
