The Corbett Prize

You will receive a one-off cash prize of approximately 614 EUR if you graduate from the Bachelor’s degree programme in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham with the highest overall results. The prize is funded by private donors. It is awarded once a year at the Faculty of Mathematics graduation ceremony, usually in July, and recognises you as the top graduate of your year.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
• Grades: You have achieved the best overall results among the graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Mathematics in your year group.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

There is no application process. The Faculty of Mathematics selects the winner internally on the basis of their final marks and presents the award during the graduation ceremony.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student per year receives this award: the top graduate of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Mathematics. You cannot apply for it, nor can you work directly towards it. The only way to achieve it is through consistently outstanding performance throughout your degree. Think of it more as recognition for the best in the year group rather than a scholarship that you can base your plans on.
