Lubbock Prize (E&M) at Oxford

For the best overall performance on the Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘Economics and Management’ (E&M) at the University of Oxford, you will receive a one-off cash prize of approximately 480 EUR. The prize is funded by the Maurice Lubbock Memorial Fund, which was established in 1958 to support the study of economics, management and engineering at Oxford. It is announced each year during the Encaenia celebrations at the end of June.

Who can apply

• University: You’re studying at the University of Oxford.
• Course: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management (E&M).
• Stage: You’re currently sitting your final exams (the ‘Final Honours School’).
• Grades: You’ve achieved by far the best overall result in your E&M year group. Only one pupil wins this prize each year.
• Nationality: Anyone, regardless of nationality, can win. The prize is based on the exam results, not on where you come from.

How to apply

There is no application process. The examiners nominate the student who has achieved the best results in the final examinations, and that student receives the prize.

How realistic are your chances?

You cannot apply for this award, so the only way to be considered is through your academic performance throughout your degree. As only one prize is awarded each year, it recognises the very best result in your year group, rather than a particularly compelling application.
