About this award / prize
Tom Hargrave Prize for Best BSc Project
A one-off prize of about 314 EUR (£250) is awarded for the best final-year dissertation on the three-year Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘Computer Science’ at the University of Bristol. Ian and Jane Hargrave established this prize in memory of their son Tom, a graduate of the Computer Science programme at Bristol. It is awarded once a year at the end of the academic year.
Who can apply
- University: You are studying at the University of Bristol in the School of Computer Science.
- Degree: You are studying for a three-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (code G400). The four-year MEng programme and other degree options are not taken into account.
- Year: You are in your final (third) year of study and are submitting an individual assignment or a final dissertation.
- Grades: Your project has been named the best of the year.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply, provided they take part in this course.
How to apply
There is neither an application deadline nor a submission deadline. The prize will be awarded as soon as all eligible final-year dissertations have been assessed, and will go to the student with the best dissertation.
How realistic are your chances?
Each year, only one student is awarded the prize, selected from the final-year dissertations of a single degree programme at Bristol. You cannot apply for it directly or work towards it. The only way to be shortlisted is to achieve outstanding results in your final-year dissertation.
