About this award / prize

XMOS Prize at the University of Bristol

As the top student on a four-year computer science degree at the University of Bristol, you will receive a one-off cash prize of approximately EUR 312 (250 GBP). This is a merit-based award, not a monthly scholarship, and is awarded once a year. The prize is funded by XMOS Ltd, a Bristol-based semiconductor company that was spun off from the university in 2005.

Who can apply

  • University: You’re studying at the University of Bristol.
  • Field of study: You’re studying computer science.
  • Programme length: Your degree course lasts four years.
  • Grades: You are the best student on this course. The award is presented to the best student every year.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying computer science in Bristol.

How to apply

There is no application process. The university selects the winner each year on the basis of academic achievement.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student is awarded this prize each year: the one who has achieved the best results in the four-year Computer Science degree programme at Bristol. It is not possible to apply specifically for this award; you should therefore regard it as recognition of outstanding achievement rather than as a source of funding that you can factor into your plans.
