Infineon Prize

You will receive a one-off cash prize of £250 (about 290 EUR) for the best final-year project in the field of computer architecture – that is, for the design of how processors and computer hardware function. The prize is sponsored by the chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies and awarded by the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Bristol. If no suitable project is submitted in a given year, the prize will be awarded to the student with the best overall result in the ‘Advanced Computer Architecture’ module (course code COMSM0109).

Who can apply

• University: You’re studying at the University of Bristol.
• Level: You are a Bachelor’s student at the Faculty of Computer Science.
• Field: Your final-year project is on computer architecture, or you are taking the ‘Advanced Computer Architecture’ module.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Results: You will produce the most compelling project or achieve the best result in the relevant module.

How to apply

No application is required. The prize is automatically awarded to the best eligible student, based on their project and the results achieved.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single merit-based prize awarded annually to one student. It is awarded exclusively to the best project in the field of computer architecture amongst undergraduates at Bristol; the bar is therefore set high, and the winner is not selected from the applications but is chosen. You cannot actively apply for it. To be shortlisted, you must choose a project in the field of computer architecture or the ‘Advanced Computer Architecture’ module and achieve outstanding results in it.
