Aberdeen Alumni Discount

At the University of Aberdeen, you will receive a 20% discount on your postgraduate tuition fees. This is a loyalty bonus offered by the university to its own former students who return to undertake further study. The discount applies only to the fees you pay yourself. It does not apply to the portion of the fees that has already been paid by a scholarship, a funding body, your employer or any other source, and it does not reduce any additional study or research costs. How long it applies depends on your degree programme:

• Taught courses (Masters, Diploma, Certificate, short courses): the complete programme.
• Full-time research degree: in the first year (in the first two years for part-time work).
• Full-time Accelerated LLB: in the first year (in the first two years for part-time work).

Who can apply

• Your link to Aberdeen: You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from the University of Aberdeen. A certificate or diploma alone is not sufficient. You are also eligible to apply if you have studied there as part of an international exchange programme, a study abroad programme or as an Erasmus student, or if you have graduated from certain North American partner universities affiliated with the University of Aberdeen.
• What you study next: You are starting an eligible postgraduate programme, such as an MBA (with the exception of the ‘International Business Management’ programme), a Physician Associate programme, any online degree programme or short course, the accelerated LLB programme or a research degree.
• Funding: You cover your tuition fees yourself and do not, at the same time, receive any other scholarship to cover your tuition fees.
• Timing: You must apply as a new student before you start your degree. Once you have started your degree, you will no longer be eligible to claim this.
• Nationality and fee status: Open to all. Students from Germany, the rest of the United Kingdom and abroad are eligible to take part.

How to apply

You must register via the university’s online form before the start of your degree programme. On the form, you should enter your name, year of graduation, academic qualification, the Master’s programme to which you have been admitted, and the university you previously attended. There is no fixed deadline; the discount remains valid until further notice.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an automatic loyalty discount rather than a selection process, so no panel will be comparing you with other applicants. If you are a genuine graduate of the University of Aberdeen (or an eligible exchange student), are covering the costs yourself and your chosen degree programme is on the list of eligible courses, you will receive a discount of 20%. The main reason for exclusion is a late application; therefore, please submit the form before the start of your studies.
