Nottingham Trent University alumni discount

If you already hold a degree from Nottingham Trent University (NTU), you will receive 20% off the tuition fees towards the cost of a further postgraduate programme at NTU. This applies to full-time, part-time and distance-learning programmes, including Master’s programmes, the MBA and PhD programmes. For a two-year Master’s programme with a placement year, the 20% applies only to the first year’s fees. For a PhD programme, it does not apply to the final year of dissertation research. Part-time students receive the discount spread across all their years of study. You may claim the discount up to twice.

Who can apply

• Previous degree: You have completed your degree at NTU with a recognised qualification, such as a BA, BEng, BSc, LLB, BArch, PGDip, MA or MSc.
• Next course: You will be commencing an eligible postgraduate programme at NTU in the academic year 2026/27.
• Nationality: Open to students from the UK and abroad.
• Field of study: This offer applies to all postgraduate programmes at NTU, although some are excluded. These include distance-learning PhD programmes, as well as certain programmes at Nottingham Law School, Executive Education, and in the fields of engineering and social sciences. Please check whether your programme is on the list of excluded programmes.
• Other funding: You are not currently receiving a scholarship or study grant that covers 50% or more of your tuition fees, and you are not receiving full financial support from an employer or a professional body. If you receive partial financial support, you can claim the discount on the portion that you pay yourself.

How to apply

If you graduated within the last six years (from 2019/20), you do not need to apply. Once you have accepted your offer, the discount will be applied automatically before you enrol. If you graduated earlier than this or wish to claim the discount for a second time, please email your degree certificate and your NTU student ID to the university’s Scholarships Office with the subject line ‘Alumni Discount’.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not an award granted as part of a competition. It is an automatic fee reduction for all those who meet the eligibility criteria; therefore, there is neither a selection panel nor a ranking against other applicants. If you hold a recognised NTU degree, enrol on an eligible degree programme and are not already covered by other major funding sources, you will receive a discount of 20%. Above all, you should check whether your specific degree programme is on the exclusion list.
