University of Warwick - PhD Scholarship: Computational Models for Uncertainty Quantification in Multiscale/Multiphysics Systems

What you get

This is a three-year PhD scholarship at the School of Engineering, University of Warwick, in Coventry, UK. You will receive a living allowance (a regular payment to cover your living costs) of approximately 15,900 EUR per year, paid for all 36 months. Your PhD tuition fees will also be covered at the home/EU rate. The research topic is computer-aided modelling for quantifying uncertainties: you will develop computer models that estimate how reliable simulations are when many physical processes occur simultaneously.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You have an excellent bachelor’s degree (First Class or Upper Second Class). A master’s degree is an advantage, but not essential.
• Field of study: You have a degree in engineering, physics or a related scientific subject.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Fees are only covered at the domestic/EU rate, so applicants from outside the EU may have to pay the difference to the higher international rate themselves.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single funded PhD post on a specific research topic, so only a handful of well-suited candidates will be competing for it. If you have an excellent degree in engineering, physics or a related scientific subject and a genuine interest in computer-aided modelling, your chances are good. It is an advantage if you are able to cover any difference in tuition fees that may apply to international students and if you apply well in advance of the application deadline.
