About this award / prize

Benefit

You will receive a one-off cash prize of about 120 EUR awarded by the Department of Chemistry at University College London (UCL). The Neil Arnott Prize is awarded to the best chemistry graduate across the entire University of London, not just at UCL.

Eligibility

  • Level: You have just completed your Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
  • Field of study: Chemistry.
  • Where you study: You are studying at the University of London. The prize is open to students from all colleges, not just those at UCL.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
  • Results: You’ll need to achieve outstanding results, as the prize is awarded to the university’s top chemistry graduate.

How to apply

You do not submit an application in the traditional sense. The Department of Chemistry at UCL selects the top graduate from the Chemistry degree programme and assesses the candidates during an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single main prize awarded to the person judged to be the best chemistry graduate across the entire University of London. The competition is extremely tough and difficult to prepare for. It is awarded to those who rank amongst the very best in their year – not through an application process. Only a handful of students are even considered each year.
