The Kingston Bursary (first year)

You will receive about 2,340 EUR (£2,000), paid via your first year of study, in three instalments into your UK bank account. This is a scholarship from Kingston University London for undergraduate students from low-income households. You do not need to repay this amount. Kingston awards at least 500 such scholarships every year.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You have accepted a firm offer from Kingston University and will be starting the 1th year of your Bachelor’s degree in September 2026.
• Fee status: You are classified as a student with ‘domestic’ fee status, so you pay the standard UK tuition fees of £9,790, rather than the rate for international students.
• Course type: You are starting your first year of study. Students on the foundation year 0 and ‘top-up’ students (who join a degree programme in its final year) are not eligible to take part.
• Field of study: All degree programmes are eligible for funding, with the exception of nursing and midwifery. These are instead covered by the separate NHS Learning Support Fund.
• Financial need: Your household income is £25,000 per year or less, as verified by Student Finance England or Student Finance Wales.

How to apply

You do not need to apply separately. Kingston automatically selects eligible students. However, you must submit an application for student finance as soon as possible after submitting your UCAS application, and no later than 30 June 2026. List Kingston as your first choice, consent to the sharing of your personal data, complete the household income survey and enrol in September 2026. You will be notified in October 2026 whether you have been awarded the scholarship.

How realistic are your chances?

With at least 500 scholarships per year, a considerable sum is available. The income threshold of £25,000 ensures that the number of eligible applicants remains small. As the number of places is limited, meeting all the criteria does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. Please sort out your student funding and income assessment well in advance, as this assessment is crucial to your eligibility.
