Alumni postgraduate scholarships (University of Brighton)

You get a 20% cut on your tuition fees for a postgraduate course at the University of Brighton in the 2026-27 academic year. This is a direct discount on your fees, not a cash payment. The university offers it to its own former students who come back to study at a higher level. It applies whether you study full time or part time.

Who can apply

• Former Brighton student: You already hold a degree from the University of Brighton.
• Course level: You are starting a postgraduate course at Brighton in 2026-27, either taught or research-based. This covers Masters (MSc, MA, MBA, MPA, LLM), MRes, PGDip, PGCert, MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorate.
• Nationality: Open to UK and international students alike.
• A full award: You study towards a full qualification, not single stand-alone modules.
• Course not excluded: You are not on an apprenticeship, an integrated Masters, or a course with regulated fees such as PGCE, MEng, MArch, MPharm or pre-registration health degrees. Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) students have their own separate scholarships instead.
• No other award: You are not claiming another university scholarship at the same time, and you have no unpaid debt to the university.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Apply for your postgraduate course online in the normal way. If you are offered a place and meet the criteria, the university identifies you automatically and applies the 20% fee reduction.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. It is an automatic discount for anyone who fits the rules, not a selection contest. If you graduated from Brighton and enrol on an eligible postgraduate course, you get it. The only things to check are that your course is not on the excluded list and that you owe no debt to the university.
